Dealer of the Year (Sponsored by PM Commercials)
The Dealer of the Year award recognises best practice, innovation and professionalism as well as outstanding achievements in customer service, commercial vehicle sales and aftersales support in a franchised or independent dealership of any size over the past 12 months.
This award is open to any dealership offering a whole range of business activities, including new and used truck, trailer and van sales, aftersales and support along with delivery of services such as finance, insurance and warranties. Evidence of strong relationships with customers and relationships with manufacturers and suppliers should also be demonstrated.
Judges will look for evidence of high levels of customer satisfaction and retention, as well as innovative sales strategies and bespoke customer service offerings.
The award is open to all independent and franchised truck dealerships of all sizes in the UK, either as standalone sites or as part of a group.
Apprentice of the Year (Sponsored by Close Brothers)
The Apprentice of the Year Award recognises the achievements of an individual who has either completed, or is currently engaged in, an apprenticeship programme. The apprentice can be involved in the operational side of a road transport business (such as a driver, warehouse or transport office) the technical aspects of truck, trailer and van repair and maintenance, or be working as part of a sales or customer support team at an independent or franchised dealership, bodybuilder, auction house, financial services supplier or rental, leasing and contract hire supplier of any size.
The judges will look for an individual that has made a significant contribution to their workplace, as well as a business that has grown and supported young talent.
Bodybuilder of the Year (Sponsored by Hartshorne Group)
The Bodybuilder of the Year Award recognises best practice, innovation and outstanding levels of customer service delivered by a bodybuilder in the United Kingdom over the past 12 months.
The judges will look for evidence of bespoke product design, listening to customer needs and a commitment to delivering a quality product. Judges will welcome evidence of a business exceeding its targets, engaging with the local community or focusing on the development of young talent. Customer testimonials would be welcome, as would evidence of an outstanding financial performance as a business in the past 12 months.
Customer Service Award (Sponsored by Maritime Transport)
The Customer Service Award looks to recognise outstanding levels of care, delivery and support from those supplying vehicles, trailers, parts or maintenance to operators of commercial vehicles.
The judges will look for evidence of outstanding levels of customer service – be it in levels of vehicle uptime, above industry-average inspection pass rates, solving a problem for a particular customer or going above and beyond business as usual to meet the commercial vehicle fleet needs of a client.
The judges will especially want to see customer testimonials, which will remain anonymous outside of the judging panel, be it a single case study or from numerous customers – with no weighting given to either option.
Dealer Principal of the Year (Sponsored by Hankook Tyres)
Recognising the achievements of an individual that has led success in either a franchised or independent, new or used, HGV dealership, the Dealer Principal of the Year will be someone that has made a huge difference to a commercial vehicle dealership, getting results. They must also be a real ‘people person’, having built a strong team around them as well as effective relationships with customers. Financial performance is important and a track record of hitting and surpassing targets is vital.
Industry Champion (Sponsored by Brigade Electronics)
This award is to recognise individuals who are helping to raise the profile of the road haulage sector to the general public. Those who have successfully given the haulage sector a voice to share the positive attributes it brings to society. Perhaps you’re a social media giant with millions of followers that loves to share your on-the-road adventures, or maybe you have highlighted the vast range of careers available to young people in community schools or colleges, or perhaps you have made efforts to promote the need for more diversity in the sector? If you know of an Industry Champion that you would like to see recognised for their hard work and passion for the road transport sector, then make sure to nominate them for this fantastic new award.
Rental, Leasing and Contract Hire Award (Sponsored by TVS Interfleet)
The Rental, Leasing and Contract Hire Award rewards an outstanding supplier of trucks and/or trailers on either a rental, leasing or contract hire basis (or any combination thereof) over the last 12 months.
The judges will look for evidence of high levels of customer satisfaction and retention; high levels of fleet uptime and compliance; bespoke fleet management services for customers and the delivery of tailored requirements that show an understanding of a customers’ business. Customer testimonials would be welcome, as would evidence of an outstanding financial performance as a business in the past 12 months.
Rising Star of the Year (Sponsored by Meiller-Boweld)
We are looking for the road transport sector’s next-generation of industry champions. Those individuals at the start of their careers that have already to started to make their mark on the business and stand out from their peers. Individuals can come from any discipline in the road transport sector, including drivers, transport office, truck sales, workshop and warehouse. Judges will be looking for clear examples of an individual’s passion and commitment to the road transport industry and their willingness to continue to develop key skills.
SME Haulier of the Year (Sponsored by Logico)
This brand-new CM Award is open to independent hauliers, including family-run businesses, with fewer than 100 vehicles on their fleets that can demonstrate operational excellence a cut above the competition. Judges will be wanting to see evidence of a robust business strategy and financial performance; an effective staff recruitment, training and retention regime; a focus on safety and compliance; good links to the local community; strong customer service levels and satisfaction; and a dynamic leadership team. Let us know what your USP is and how this helps your business win contracts and stand out from the crowd. And most of all, show us how your team has the passion and commitment to be crowned the Commercial Motor SME Haulier of the Year!
Safety Innovation (Sponsored by Palletline)
This award is open to both fleet operators and equipment suppliers. We are looking for a product, technology or innovative way of working that has boosted safety across a fleet or workshop environment. Judges will want to know how you identified a particular safety concern and how the safety innovation has addressed the problem. Data/measurements from before and after would be welcome, as would testimonials of those staff using the new innovation. It would also be good to know how quickly the solution was rolled out, and whether there are plans to expand its use.
Service to Industry (Sponsored by Asset Alliance)
The Service to Industry Award recognises an individual for a lifetime of service, innovation and leadership in the road transport sector. Individuals can work in any part of the road transport sector, from the operational side through to dealership sales, manufacturing and aftersales.
Tanker Operator of the Year (sponsored by Van Hool)

Workshop Award (sponsored by Northside Truck & Van)
Open to any commercial vehicle workshop that handles vehicles 3.51 tonnes and above, both in-house and third party. We are looking for workshop environments that can demonstrate excellence in operational efficiency, health & safety, staff training and customer satisfaction.
Judges will be looking for evidence of robust workshop management, for example: Green OCRS levels, strong first-time pass rates; timely action on defect reporting, effective communication with customers and so on.
